Apps growing in popularity

A survey by Pew Research Center found that fully half of adult cell phone owners had apps on their phones. Each day there are an equal amount of countless new applications; such is the popularity of apps that even more and more artists use to create music applications.

Björk is now opening the doors of music sales in a new format by simply breaking the music down into teaching tools. Biophilia, her latest release ,outrageously original, is the first app-album of musical history. She has collaborated with artists, designers, scientists, instrument makers, writers and software developers to create an extraordinary multimedia exploration of the universe and its physical forces, processes and structures - of which music is a part.

The album comprises ten thematic applications, each song is about  natural elements with musicological features. Each application includes scientific and musical games with which the user can interact, as well as an animation and hears the song, lyrics, a scientific paper on the item and its properties musicological and even scores in cartoon format.

After all, these days, there really is an app for everything, from smartphone downloads to keep you entertained to apps that could  educate with music, ideas and images such Biophilia by Björk.
